Surcharging Settings
The Surcharging Settings page lets you enable and configure a convenience fee for:
- Transactions run in the Virtual Terminal (Credit Cards or Electronic Checks from the main menu)
- Customers paying through the QuickClick checkout system
Surcharging is off by default.
Enable Surcharging
- Go to Surcharging (Convenience Fee) Settings
- Check the box to activate surcharging
- Choose a surcharge type:
- No surcharge
- Fixed amount
- Percentage
Set Your Surcharge Amount
Fixed surcharge
- Select Fixed
- Enter the fixed fee amount (example: $2.00)
- Click Save
Percentage surcharge
- Select Percentage
- Enter the percentage rate (example: 5.5%)
- Click Save
What You Will See in the Virtual Terminal
After saving, the sale screen will display:
- Amount
- Surcharge
- Total
Example:
- Amount: $10.00
- Fixed surcharge: $2.00
- Total charged: $12.00
If using percentage:
- Amount: $10.00
- 5.5% surcharge: $0.55
- Total charged: $10.55
You can also override the surcharge on a single transaction by editing the value on the sale screen.
Update or Turn Off Surcharging
- You can return to the settings page anytime to change fixed/percentage values
- To disable surcharging, uncheck the activation box and save
- Once disabled, surcharge fields will no longer appear on the sale screen
